Tonight at work I am looking through a wonderful book I have had for 10 or 15 years. The book is volume 1 of 2 titled "Van Gogh The Complete Paintings".
"Vincent Van Gogh - The Complete Paintings On Amazon"
Vincent Van Gogh's early work quite often dealt with peasants on their land or in their homes. Van Gogh was able to capture the difficulty, the stark poverty and the solitude of the peasant world. These lives came and went without making much of a flicker, except on those closest. Outside of their immediate family their lives were forgotten, swallowed up in time. The exception was when Vincent captured the peasant feelings, that important humanity and put them on canvas. Those lives were not forgotten because of Vincent Van Gogh, today 130 years later, we are still talking about them.
I love the way he was able to portray people, how he treated them with such honesty and dignity. Even thou I am no VVG I need to follow his lead with my photography, continue working in that beautiful tradition.
