They mostly sat in complete darkness, the only light was the occasional flashing headlamp. I lit this scene for the photograph myself with several headlamps from my position on a hill of garbage. I remember the smell, and remember slipping in the garbage which was on a hill as I tried to make the picture.
Ended up giving this family 2 donations of 500 baht each (thanks Sonnie) and also food, plus other things. Do not know what happened to them. In 2019 when I returned to the Mae Sot and the dump, they were gone. |
