I decided to word simplify and pay tribute by naming the two vehicles that will be used in the AMBROTOS KANATA cross Canada wet plate project. As earlier mentioned, the motorhome will be called "Fanny", a tribute to the wife of the inventor of wet plate photography Frederick Scott Archer. Today I decided to also name the darkroom trailer its name will be "Freddy"(Frederick Scott Archer).
So travelling down the road for the next 10-15 years making ambrotypes and wet plate collodion negs, will be the former real life partner team of Fanny (Fanny G Archer) and Freddy (Frederick Scott Archer). A fitting tribute to the two I think. It will also make the blog-youtube channel and artist talks flow easier, one word instead of many used on those platforms.
Note* AMBROTOS KANATA/ "Ambrotos" is reference to the Greek word for "immortal", in the sense that wet plate ambrotypes are basically immortal. "Kanata" is a tribute to First Nations people and their important culture and history. Kanata is from the Iroquois language, the Kanata word is the origin for the name Canada it means village or settlement.
