Got another Japanese Ambrotype off EBay today. The cost was $45 CAD including shipping, reasonable! The ambrotype is not in the best of shape but I find it hypnotic

"This ambrotype is like looking into the past...want to do the same thing with my KANATA portrait work..hopefully 140 years after those pictures are taken viewers will look at the images and wonder about the lives living inside the glass."
