Getting That Nervous Feeling!
With the shows opening reception still 12 days away I have 46 attendance confirmation with another 2 probables. I still have quite a few people who have not answered so it looks to be a full house of 50 visitors. Even with some probable no shows the opening reception attendance number should still be around 50.
This all makes me rather uncomfortable, I am happy the work is being show in such a nice venue. I am happy that the Klong Toey subjects will have a voice through the images and will have part of their story told. I wish thou I could be a fly on the wall, I hope to much attention does not come my way. I want people just look at the photographs and respond to the work and forget about me, that's my hope. I also hope the work will touch the viewer in some way that will translate in a positive manner to their own lives.
I wish I could be more anonymous in all of this an invisible figure who could watch from a quiet distance, maybe I should change my name again! : )
That night I want everyone to have a good time, some nice food and hopefully think about the lives in the pictures and even eventually donate some funds to the mercy centre (I have a link to the Klong Toey slum charity mercycentr.org at the exhibition).
I will be shooting some video of the show before, after and during and eventually making up another show video for my youtube channel. For those of you out there that might be reading this but cannot attend the opening keep an eye out for the video, it should be up and running sometime before June 2013.

Bus Series
I wanted to do a series in Bangkok on and near the buses. I especially want to do more like the photo below which does not quite work (got to get the last window talking to). Maybe the first and the last day I am in Bangkok I can work on this before and after I return from Mae Sot.
This series idea is inspired by the extremely powerful Robert Frank photograph from New Orleans. Of course Frank's work has added significance because it was made before the civil rights movement in the States when African Americans had to sit at the back of the streetcar (bus).

Developing 8x10 Film Again
I am developing the 8x10 ladyboy sex worker shots from last year again. I have several boxes of undeveloped film that I need to finish off before I print the PhotoNOLA show (if it happens). I am using the JOBO very carefully its the last one I have that is not broken, I think in the future I want to develop all my 8x10 by hand, probably in trays like Sturges does.
I am really looking forward to the day I will be making 8x10 portraits in Asia, my confidence with large format 4x5 portraiture is growing, it seems so much easier to for me to do this year as compared to 2 years ago. I want to move up to 5x7 soon (maybe after this coming Thai trip) and then on to 8x10 hopefully within 2 or 3 years. It should be such a gas to be printing those large negs in the Durst 8x10 enlarger, the sooner I get to that stage in my photography the better!

Forgotten Negs Klong Toey Slum
Found these 35mm negs in a far off corner of my home, guess they will not make the Klong Toey show! All shot in Klong Toey slum in Bangkok in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
