Gerry is a true artist, inventing something unique that didn't exist before him and won't exist after him. Gerry shows us the beauty in the midst of the ugliness. A child on a pile of trash is as beautiful as a child in a pretty suit. And it also shows us that the tragedy of our world is that some people have too many things while others have nothing. Our world suffers from the greed of some while others ask for almost nothing, just what Gerry gives them, a little compassion and a lot of respect. Thanks Gerry, you blew my mind.

Jerry,You have instilled in a my photographic memories of the processes that I went through to get my images from my ansco contact printer to my digital and film that I do now. and to find ways to to get and stay with my on going and future projects as the you photo did of the subject with the bag that said save. it is a give and take thank you

Making Fix and Hypo Clear for Next Week

Mixing up hypo(fixer) and hypo clear for next week's Ambrotype making. 1600 grams of Sodium Thiosulfate to 5 liters of water, seems to work well. Am using my newly bought super large funnel and Goodwill extra-large coffee filters to filter the hypo.

GREAT CANADIAN? Not!!

Got this kind note from Doug C, after the FRAMES Interview. I have not watched the interview as that kind of “ME "watching, sort of makes me nauseous. I heard it was OK thou.

His kind note today, was nice. It will help me through my 12-hour security shift. I did not get enough sleep today. I was preparing the darkroom trailer for next week's Ambros.

Mixed up 3000+ml of Gerry Collodion today. I will use it during next weeks trip. Will shoot 11x14 and 14x14 inch Ambrotyoes. Will be testing 4mm thick glass for the first time..

Video: Complicated Music Gear + Dennis the Conductor!

I think I finally got all of Dennis’s stereo gear working today including his amp and second receiver with weird ass STAX SRD-7 adapter device and SRD-5 headphones.

I think my current set up is just like Dennis had it. It sounds fricking awesome. The only thing I might upgrade is the speakers. Thank you Dennis.

I understand how Dennis could sit hidden in his small house and still live through the music. I also found 5 conductor batons and the original musical scores of many of the great composers. So Dennis could read music, he must have conducted the recorded orchestras as he listened. 

I have so many questions for him. I wish we could still speak together.

More Mozart today, violin concerto.

As per Dennis’s request his collection of albums will be donated to a University after I pass. He told me I could have and use his music and gear the rest of my life. Thank you Dennis.

He had 3 receivers, 4 record players, 4 cd players, speakers, 7 headphones, 1 Amplifier, along with other stereo gear. About 1/3 are broken, probably from extensive use.

Note* After listening to everything head to head the STAX headphones sound best. Maybe if I upgrade the speakers, they can match the subtle difference. 

It is all so lovely!

Video: Tapped in Art Speak

Trapped at the art Gallery of Alberta today listening to art speak speeches!! PAINFUL! They will only let us into the galleries post speeches. My so called ART comes from a different place than this hauty-taughty stuff. It has no chance in the world of me art.  I wish artists and art galleries were less self important. 

All the shows I saw today screamed ME ME ME!!!

Video: Suite Work and Music Area

We had a rental suite in the basement off my family home that I will now convert to a music area (thank you Dennis) and work are to do post production work on my images. Things like spotting, matting and framing. I will black out the bedroom window to allow for a nice work out and sleeping area. 

Thank you mom and dad for all your work building this home.

Before I die I hope to be able to archivaly print the best of my life’s work in a variety  of formats. Will make Silver Gelatin, Platinum-Palladium and Salt photos, in a variety of sizes.

The work begins tonight. The music is from a Mozart Quartet CD

Note* I will also use the room as a reading and chess room. This going to be GRAND!!

24x24 Chamonix Needs to be Shot Earlier Than Later

I need to see if I can make some 24x24 Ambrotype plates with the 24x24 Chamonix Camera. I ordered 15 sheets of 3 mm thick glass measuring 23-15/16 inches by 23-15/16 inches and 2 at a 4 mm thickness yesterday. 

I am unsure the 4mm glass will fit the holder, so wanted to give it a test go first. If it works, I will probably do all 4mm thickness in the future.

If I can get this camera working for me, I will use it as well as the 11x14 in the petro chemical plant shoots this year.

AMBROTOS KANATA Bill, $1056.94 CAD

Another buy of wet plate chemistry yesterday. Cost was $1056.94 CAD. Got me 4 bottles of USP Collodion and 400 Grams of Silver nitrate.

Expensive as always. Hope this leads to come good Ambros. I am getting things ready for next week and the weeks that follow, especially the August shots at the Petro Chemical Plant.

Ambrotypes at my Plant!

11x14 inch and 14x14 inch clear glass ambros shot over 2 days in August. It should be fun!

I hope that this opportunity will assist in getting access to major plants like Suncor in Fort McMurray.
