Been thinking about the possibilities of doing wet plate collodion work in Canada with the new proposed Chamonix 16x20. The Chamonix people also make a wet plate holder in whatever size you need. Being able to do large wet plate tin types, ambrotypes (glass) or glass negs is another big selling point for the Chamonix brand. They also provide other wet plate equipment like large silver bath containers.
My current dream photo project would be to travel Northern Canada as well as remote places like Fogo Island just off Newfoundland making wet plate tintypes or ambrotypes on black glass. I would concentrate on photographing people but could also do some landscapes, maybe even older buildings found along the way, and other cool visual stuff. 16x20 wetplates would be very beautiful and one of a kind.
It would be cool to buy a small trailer of some kind to use as a wetplate darkroom, hook it up to the van and then travel Canada for 6 months from early spring (April) to late fall (October) making wet plate images.
Could call this series CAN-LODION : ))
