This would be a dream camera. Wish I could find one of these used somewhere. If I ever did decide to go 7x17, this might be my #1 camera option.
Canham 7x17
The new camera (without lens, film or holders) sells for a fairly reasonable price of $6550 USD at the View Camera Store. I saw a 11x14 Canham going for $8000 some where, so $6550 seems not so bad.
View Camera Store, 7x17 Canham For Sale
Update* Badger Graphic sells the same camera new for $6495 USD. They also sell the very necessary ground glass protector for $74 USD.
Update** 2 other intriguing Canham options are the 12x20 ($8000 USD) and the 14x17 ($8770 USD) cameras. Kenro Izu shoots a 14x17 Deardorff which he then contact prints on platinum.
I would like to choose one ULF camera and shoot it the rest of my life. Which one would be best? Another obvious advantage to buying a ULF camera would be that I could use it for wet plate work as well.
ULF cameras, wet plate, platinum printing, boy am I getting ahead of myself!
