The 2nd darkroom space even thou it is not completed is already showing some benefits in regards to promoting film based photography. Got an email from a friend who teaches art at the University of Alberta. We are setting up a date that would allow her students to visit the darkroom to see the layout, see the equipment etc. I offered to set up a free 2-3 hour printing session for the most interested students. That way they could do some hands on darkroom work and possibly learn to love analog photo making. This should be great! Heck anything that promotes darkrooms and the beauty of working in more traditional ways has got to be a good thing.
We are looking at doing this sometime in September, after my return from Asia. I will be in the he dump doing photographic and donation work until July. Am looking forward to this small darkroom promoting event, maybe it can become an annual type thing. This will be fun!!
Note* There was also talk of doing an artist talk at the University related to to the "Families of the Dump" work. Which would show the photographs but more importantly promote and focus on the idea of helping people in need.
