After much effort I was able to find a computer power cord here in Mae Sot that works for me, am using it now. I had to ask 4 people about where the computer shop was, get a map made up and then make 2 trips to the shop the second time with my HP Elitebook to get everything working. The first cord I bought did not work, the second with some work did. Turns out my old adapter was the the wrong wattage, voltage or something or other.
Long story short my computer is up again and back to normal. Boy Thai speaking came in handy today! This adapter cost 890 baht has a 1 year warranty and the computer store has branches in Bangkok.
