I bought a older model 450mm Nikon lens for $364.59 USD, it is the Q varient not the current modern M version. From what I read online the lens should be very close in all areas to the much more expensive Nikon 450mm F9 M version ($899-1430 USD for a nice one). The only differences in the lens that I could find is that the M version is multicoated where as the Q version is single coated. This lens dates back to the early 1970s. Supposedly the glass and shutter on mine are perfect and in great working order.
Doubt it will cover my 16x20 (might work with 14x17) but I should be able to use it with my 4x5s, 5x7, 8x10s and with a 11x14 camera (would need to get a 11x14 step down back for May Lee my Chamonix 16x20). The current longest lens I have for any of my view cameras is a Nikon 360mm F5.6 which is very big and heavy and not really that long. This lens is much needed, it will be more compact, lighter and longer. I should be able to make very good use of it and you cannot beat that price! Hopefully the single coating is not an issue, will have to get her some kind of lenshood to protect her from the evil glaring sun.
Note*The M version of the lens has 420mm coverage at F9 and 440mm at F22. The Q should be the same or similar, hope hope!
Note** I believe the Q stands for Quad, as in 4 elements.
