I believe my Platinum printing is improving. I am getting a better feel for what the negatives should look like. I still have so much to learn but I am feeling more confident. My success rate for images is improving. Will do some more Pt-Pd reading tonight. Maybe someday I can become a master printer in this difficult but truly beautiful medium.
Improvements include:
- what different developers do
- what different papers do
- recognizing the best chemistry-negative combinations
- which images will print well
- better blacks
- better coatings
- chemistry drop counts
- proper humidity of the paper
- better development and clearing baths
- how to prevent fogging
- plus, the best ways to sandwich the neg and paper for better sharpness
