You know what is really weird about all the stuff I learned about Dupree lately. I thought For years, for the last 30+ years that I was the only one who knew this guy outside of Sonny and a few others. I had no idea he was so reverred by many in the jazz community. I thought his memory, his life, was mine alone (now that Sonny is most likely gone). Then I found all these recordings, reviews, respect and history online. Wow! It is also so bizarre, my whole understanding of this man has been changed up. Can't get my head round that! Who knew?
Now I can now listen to his music, and use it to remember the times we shared together. Life sure does take strange turns at times.
