I think my head is going to explode. First I arrive in Thailand and have to speak Thai after a long absence, then I meet Cambodian people in Bangkok and try to remember my Khmer lessons from years past, and now today Burmese! Gosh my tongue is doing back-flips, my head is pounding and I am struggling to remember as much as I can and keep as much straight as possible.
I wish I was fluent in all 3 languages, my Thai can be passable but my Khmer and Burmese is beginner 1a stuff. Still anything I can say pproduces surprise and smiles. Today for example I got a big grin and a better connection with a man and his family after I said in Burmese "Burma saga na-ma-lay-bah-boo" (I cannot speak the Burmese language).
At least its cooler this trip, that makes things a bit easier, weather wise things are a bit less painful. It's hot but not crazy hot like last trip.
