Video: Leaves At Gull Lake

Parts of this image are overexposed but I like the way the ambro makes me feel. Exposing with wet plate is very difficult and highly subjective. Sometimes you need to follow your heart!

Military graves #4 at Cemetery

Last plate of the that day. Quite a bit of artifacts but kinda like it anyway. I think I have a cleaner version of the same composition.

Mr. Woo Story, Camera OWNERS Magazine, Facebook

Here is the Camera OWNER Magazine, post about Mr. Woo. Kinda cool to be placed between W. Eugene Smith and Bill Brandt photos. Studied both photographers extensively, especially Mr. Smith who is my idol. Love the company, would have been awesome to meet both in real life. Wonder what they would have thought about Mr. Woo's story.

Thank you Camera OWNERS Magazine!

Possible UNB (University Of New Brunswick) Art Centre Poster

The curator from the UNB sent me a possible poster for the coming exhibitions, her team made it up. One pic from THE FAMLIES OF THE DUMP and one pic from THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE UNDER THE FREEWAY. I asked her to lighten the right photo of Dao a tad.

Note* As you move up the gallery food chain, I have noticed, the curators start to have TEAMS working for them :)

Analog Forever Magazine, Full Story THE FAMILIES OF THE DUMP

Just browsing through the old ANALOG FOREVER magazine edition #3 THE FAMILIES OF THE DUMP story. I never really looked at this closely before (makes me uncomfortable for some reason). I needed to find out what photos they used in the paper version, they are now doing an online version and I need to resend all the pics.

Thought I would share the paper version of the magazine story here. It will be soon be online. They published quite a few photos and did an interview as well. I am sure they will do as good a job with their online effort.
Thank you ANALOG FOREVER for your kindness.
If your in the mood please consider donating to help the families. I will return to continue the work in 2023.

Note* The interview is rather long, if you can manage it, take a look.

The entire story/layout/interview/photos as shown in the magazine, ANALOG FOREFVER #3

Predator Ambrotype?

I hope to do an AMBROTYPE of my cousin in his PREDATOR suit. Saw the suit yesterday for the fist time. It should be fun!!! I need to get FANNY repaired, have no way to tow the darkroom trailer.

Military Graves #1, Burnsland Cemetary, Calgary

Here is the first ambrotype from the military graves at Burnsland Cemetery Calgary. I have mixed feeling on this image. I do not like the large road area in the front of the composition, but the trees are GLORIOUS!!

Blowout On Highway 2 North

On the way home from Calgary we had a minor accident. It was around 345am, we were on highway 2 heading North when there was a large shotgun like BOOM (earlier we had drove over something), followed by the sound of ripped up tires hitting the highway! I slowed down as quickly as I could and pulled off to the shoulder of the highway in complete darkness. This is what I found!

The 2 right rear dually tires were gone, the side of the motorhome fiberglass had also exploded outward. We called AMA road service and they had us out of danger in about 1 hour 30 minutes, maybe a bit less. It was amazingly quick. We needed two tow vehicles, one for the motorhome, one for the trailer. AMA provided both fast. The motorhome as taken out on a flat bed trailer pulled by a semi truck, the darkroom trailer was pulled out by a tow truck. Everyone was very efficient, friendly and calming. The tows were free, part of my membership. We were about 34 km South of Leduc but my AMA membership (RV Premier) had coverage all the way from Calgary.

What the damage looked like in daytime

Luckily because we hit something on the road the our insurance will pay for all damages mines the $1000 deductible. I had to jump through lots of hoops (AMA Insurance, Police report, AMA claims, Appraiser) but things seem to be going in the right direction. The accident happened on Sunday, today is Thursday and the motor home FANNY is in the tire shop getting new tires put on. I will have to drive it out to Tofield, Albert to get the body work repaired. My goal is to get everything completed by September 20, when I plan to drive down to Dinosaur Provincial parks to do 16x20 Ambortype Diptychs for AMBROTOS KANATA.

All in all we got off rather lucky, nothing too major, no one hurt, all will be OK and we can continue AMBROTOS KANATA. Incidents like this are just something you need to overcome, when your chasing impossible dreams like capturing Canada on ambrotype.

Note* I plan on getting all 4 rear tires replaced and install a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) so this problem does not happen again. I want driving piece of mind, so am willing to pay for it.
