Picked up this book yesterday at a thrift shop in Invemere British Columbia for $3.50.
At the battle of the Somme in 1916 well over 1 million men died. It is hard to understand that number, it’s just impossible to get your head around it. Think of all that loss and pain both on the battlefield field and at home.
My grandfather was a WW1 vet (Calvary)who rarely talked about the war.
